Potty training. I am not potty training Violet just yet. It is just very intimidating. And not fun. I worked as a caregiver to the old people for many years. I have seen my way around the commode, and it is NOT fun. TMI. Sorry. Gross. Moving on.
Throughout this parenting adventure, I have had some grandiose ideas/opinions. One being: I will NEVER let my kid drink out of my cup. Ever. Yeah. I still think it is gross beyond all get out, but I have let Vi have a sip. Take that, presumptuous Debbie. So, potty training-wise, I am thinking that I want to skip the little potty stage and just get her use to the big potty (you know, with a little seat on top).
Is this even practical? Any advice you want to give me? I will take it. I promise.

Yeah I'd jump right to te big potty, as long as you know she is ready. Hadley wasn't quite ready when we introduced the potty, so the little chair helped. And it was nice for her to have the constant visual reminder (we left it in the living room). So try the big first, have a reward system (remember our potty pops?) and if it isn't working then get the little potty chair.
ReplyDeleteWe got the little potty and Z didn't dig it. She wanted the big potty. Z loves watching Aleke potty (SpainDad) on youtube, so we let her watch it as long as she sits on the potty. She'll watch it over and over and sit there as long as we let her. She rarely does her business, but she's getting there.
ReplyDeleteSince our 'loo' is narrow, a little potty didn't fit (at least in the upstairs commode) so the potty seat was perfect, a little stool made it easy for them to climb on and later is quite useful for other things--read not-a-waste. But if you feel the need for a little potty, I have the one Mom bought for Katie, it is sitting in our storage room and yes, it still plays music and what-not ;)
ReplyDeleteGood luck, potty training sucks!
P.S. Scott says to tell 'presumptuous' Debbie that she will have a minivan someday ;)
Excellent! Yeah, I don't want the little spotty for so many reasons, but especially that it wont fit in our bathroom. I am nervous that vi is a little traumatized from her dip in the pot. We will see how it goes. Shes jot quite ready yet.
DeleteScott's just jealous of our new car. I get it.
Spotty? I meant potty. And jot, that was not. Gotta love auto-correct.
